SCHOOL OF MINISTRY
We are excited and full of expectation in how God will use the School of Ministry (SOM) in your life. SOM is a place of equipping and enabling those who desire more intensive discipleship in God’s Word. We want to see each believer fulfilling the call of God in their lives, whether it be to become a pastor at church or to become a better-equipped man or woman of God, at the SOM we have the chance to confirm and develop whatever your calling is in life.
I hope that you find the following information useful and that it will help you decide as to whether or not the School of Ministry at Calvary Chapel Bend may be a key step in what God has in store for you.
In His Grace,
Calvary Chapel Bend’s School of Ministry (SOM) is designed to be a training ground of discipleship for men and women, serving 3 primary purposes:
Receive in-depth teaching that will help better understand the breadth of the biblical text and how it applies to your life.
Discover and mature in the calling of God upon your life within the local church and outside in the world.
We want you to capture the heart of God from the Scriptures and mature in your devotion to Jesus Christ.
Students of the SOM will participate in FOUR primary areas of training: 1) Biblical Studies, 2) Systematic Theology, 3) Bible Logic and Literacy and 4) Practical Ministry.
Training in Biblical Studies is in-depth expositional teachings in God’s Word through core books including Genesis, Isaiah, The Gospels, Acts, Romans, The Pastoral Letters, Hebrews and Revelation. This area of training is at the heart and soul of the School of Ministry and plays the most foundational role in your training and discipleship.
Systematic Theology is the methodical study of Christian doctrine and belief. This area of training focuses on biblical truth by addressing what the Bible teaches about God, Creation, The Bible, Sin, Salvation, The Church, and The End of Time.
Training in Bible Logic & Literacy teaches students how to interpret, communicate and defend the Bible by covering subjects like Hermeneutics, Apologetics, Church History, Biblical Greek, Sermon Preparations and more.
Students and those desiring to become ministry leaders need to cultivate a lifestyle of not only studying Scripture but also applying Scripture into real-life ministry opportunities in the local church and through local outreach. Students will be challenged and given assignments that will help them make use of what they have learned.
Students and interns who have completed the necessary courses and credits will earn a “Certificate of Completion” from the School of Ministry at Calvary Chapel Bend. Our Certificates of Completion are evidence of your personal application of God’s Word in your life and your qualifications for ministry, as directed by the calling of God on your life.
